Reviews: 0 At that place has been very piffling written almost Keanu's neck surgery (in 1997 or thereabouts?), where he had iii vertebrae in his neck fused together with a metal plate. Interestingly, I just stumbled upon this website, where someone has looked into what that type of surgery is for, how it is done, and what the end results are:

I exercise seem to recollect reading an interview where Keanu mentions that he collapsed in the shower because he lost control of his legs (?). And something in another interview about his fingers getting numb.

I wonder which vertebrae were fused. His fingers getting numb might point that it was the 2nd and 3rd vertebrae, and annihilation to practise with the legs would suggest that there was impairment to the 4th and fifth vertebrae.

Edit: Apparently, it's called "Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion with Anterior Cervical Plate Fixation" - or ACDF. Sounds like serious ouch!

Reviews: 0 AAAAAAAH! OhmydoG! THIS is what they did to Keanu. Horrible, horrible videoclip of an actual ACDF. I feel sick. Literally. I thought I could pretty easily lookout man something similar this, equally I have some experience in "dissecting" chickens and rabbits, merely no. This was something entirely different. Ugh!

Reviews: xiii ... and I remember him proverb in a Matrix interview ( somehwere on The Matrix Revisited, or possibly somewhere else) that the start surgery didn't 'take' so it had to exist done again...

Information technology really wasn't that bad. :\\ Then again I'thousand probably desensitised from my multiple trips to the hospital for diverse things. In one case they cut open my arm (about an inch-long cut) to excerpt a chip of muscle for testing. \\o/ Didn't feel a affair because of the anesthesia, and information technology was blocked off so I couldn't scout, though the scraping and snipping sounds could get slightly disturbing. The resulting scar looked cool at first but then it healed and doesn't look cool any more than, and I spent about a calendar week beingness unable to practice anything useful with my left arm because it was too weak to exercise anything merely spend lots of time on the Internet.

Regarding Keanu'south ACDF - I recollect they would have used local anesthesia on the spot, so it probably wouldn't have hurt during the bodily operation.

I wonder if the steel (? the video said titanium, Keanu said steel) plate is however in in that location. If someone gets to run across him, bring forth a magnet and concur it up to his neck and ask if he feels anything.

Reviews: 0 I work for a group of orthopedic surgeons and one surgeon in the exercise specializes in spinal surgery. ACDF is something he does very frequently (did one today in fact) and has a very high success rate. Vast majority of patients have quick recoveries and consummate relief of their symptoms. Glad Keanu had it done and got good results. He never could have done The Matrix if he hadn't had the surgery. Can you fifty-fifty imagine The Matrix without him?

The surgery that really creeps me out is where they're working on someone'southward brain, and the person has to be wide awake while they're doing it so they can answer questions.

I could NOT stand that.
